Good afternoon Church – We are working hard to create some resources to continue your Faith@Home journey.
Each Tuesday Julian is going to produce some practical missional material that we can all reflect on.
On Wednesday, Erin will send out material for Quest and Bravo. This week Bravo will continue to do Discipleship Explored with their parents. As a means of creating some form of community, Erin is establishing Fun Friday – this is where Erin herself or one of the young people will do something fun and post it on Facebook and Instagram. Both of these are closed groups – if you want to see some of their antics you will have to ask Erin if you can join the group.
Each Thursday Ebony will send out some material to encourage spiritual discussions with your children. This is an amazing resource created especially for such a time as this.
Each Friday, I will send out some material for Sunday morning.
In addition to this you might want to tap into the Christian TV or radio stations. Both Rhema and Shine have a large variety of programs available.
Life FM 94.2fm, Rhema 621am, Star 1377am.
Although we may not be able to be together, one thing we can do is pray. A couple of years ago the Baptist Union encouraged us to commit to 5-5-5.
5 minutes a day
5 days a week
5 key things
Pray for the outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit on our nation and our leaders, at this time - they need wisdom in how to deal with this pandemic. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NRSV) First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity.
Pray for our local community – for its leaders, our learning institutions, churches, our Doctors and community needs. Jeremiah 29:7 (NRSV) But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.
Pray for the wisdom of the Spirit for Christian Churches and their leaders across our nation. Psalm 133:1 (NRSV) How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!
Pray for the people of Caversham Baptist as we journey together through these challenging times - that we will continue to trust God and grow in Him. A practical way to do this is to start with the family after your listing in the directory. This way the whole church could have someone praying for them each day. As the days pass, move onto the next family in the directory and pray for them. You could txt them to see how they are going, or to ask what you could specifically pray for. You may want to send them a verse for the day or facetime them to say hi. Ephesians 3:14 (NLT2) When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father…
Pray for your own family, that it may be a centre of the love and grace of God. Philippians 1:9 (NLT2) I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding.
